A Message From Principal Kiewiet
Message from Principal Kiewiet
Dear Westy Families,
As we begin a new school year, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all our students and their families. We hope you had a restful summer and are ready for the exciting opportunities and experiences that lie ahead. We are excited to welcome all of our students back tomorrow! We realize that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to have your student here at Westy and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything at all! My direct email is kkiewiet@wps.org Below you will see a few reminders for the beginning of the year.!
Checking Student Schedules on Infinite Campus-Some schedules have been changed!
To ensure your student is prepared for the first day of school, please take a moment to review their schedule on Infinite Campus. This platform will allow you to see your student's class assignments, teachers, and room numbers. Remember that all students start their day together in AE at 8:35am. If you encounter any issues or have questions about the schedule, please contact our counseling office for assistance at 303-487-2509.
Dress for Success
As we strive to create an environment conducive to learning, we remind you of our dress code policy. Students are expected to dress in a manner that is respectful and appropriate for a school setting. Clothing should not be disruptive to the educational environment or present safety concerns. Please refer to the full policy in the student and parent handbook for detailed guidelines on what is acceptable. We appreciate your support in helping your student make appropriate choices each day.
Electronic Use Policy
To maintain focus and reduce distractions, cell phones and headphones are not permitted in the classroom during instructional time. Students must put their phones in the Cellphone Oasis in each classroom at the beginning of class and they may retrieve it from there at the end of each class. If a student needs to make an urgent call, they may do so in classroom or the office. This policy is essential to ensure that students are fully engaged in their learning and not distracted by their phones. If you need your student during the day please call 303-657-3980. Should a student choose not to follow the policy the disciplinary ladder is listed in the student and parent handbook.
We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to working with you to support your student’s success. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Kiffany Kiewiet
