Mariachi

Students in all black performing on stage

Westminster High School’s Mariachi Program, a member of the Westminster Public Schools Creative Arts Pipeline, aims to create a world fully enriched by music through the study, composition, and performance of Mariachi music, inspiring personal growth, a positive school culture, and healthy communities. We have multiple classes for every level of musician from foundational through advanced to learn to play the violin, guitar, vihuela, guitarrón, trumpet, flute, or harp! Come be a part of our pack!

Experiencing art in a multitude of forms is what makes life worth living for millions of people worldwide. Its study, creation, and use defines our individual and worldwide cultures and comprises an essential part of a holistic human education.

The Westminster High School Mariachi program primarily seeks to provide its members with experiences that allow for self-expression and creativity to thrive, while fostering the growth of the 21st century, social-emotional, and musical skills necessary to make music in amateur, post-secondary, and professional circles.

Most of our mariachi musicians typically perform in five during-school performances, three after-school performances at WHS, and numerous additional opportunities for performances to enrich our school and broader community. Members of our upper-level ensembles typically perform three or more performances in the greater Colorado community. Recent performances include Metropolitan State University’s Lalo Delgado Festival, MSU’s Colorado Statewide Mariachi Workshop and Concert, the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference, the Women’s Conference in Brighton, the Westminster Public School's Foundation Breakfast, the Colorado Music Educators Association Conference, FlatIron Crossing Mall, and for the donor reception of the Young Latino Philanthropists - Latino Community Foundation of Colorado at the Governor's Residence at Boettcher Mansion.
