Air Force JROTC

Welcome to the CO-62 Air Force JROTC!

Established in 1971, CO-062 is the oldest continuing Air Force JROTC unit in Colorado.  Originally Adams 50 School District had two units; one at Ranum High School (CO-61) and the other at Westminster High School (CO-062).  In 1977 Westminster High School moved from 7300 Lowell toits current location at 6933 Raleigh Street.  The former Westminster High School at 7300 Lowell was redesignated as Career Enrichment Park.  At that time the 2 AFJROTC Units were consolidated into one Unit using the CO-062 designation and called Career Enrichment Park home.  In 2010 the Westminster High School building was replaced with a new state-of-the-art facility and CO-062 moved from Career Enrichment Park to their new and current home at Westminster High School.  The AFJROTC Program serves 9th-12th grade students and averages 150-185 student cadets each year.

Our unit patch was designed in 2003 by cadets in the unit and then updated in 2018 when the District changed its name from Adams 50 School District to Westminster Public Schools. The mountains and blue skies denote Colorado, our Unit designation (CO-062), school district (Westminster Public Schools), and the "Nighthawk" symbol (our Drill Team and Unit Mascot).

The objectives of JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.

Our program is grounded in the Air Force core values of Integrity First, Service before Self, and Excellence in all we do.

The Air Force Junior ROTC program is a general elective course for the High School curriculum in Westminster Public Schools, and has NO military obligation for attending the class.  Students from other school districts (Adams 12 & Jeff Co) outside of WPS are eligible to enroll in AFJROTC and attend Westminster High School’s AFJROTC program during the zero hour class (0745 - 0825) Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.  Out-of-district cadets will receive one (1) elective credit for each school year of AFJROTC they successfully complete at WHS.
