WPS Celebrates Two FRED Award Winners

Westminster Public Schools is proud to announce two outstanding staff members as this month’s FRED Award winners, honoring individuals who embody the spirit of service, dedication, and positivity in our district.

Ricky Quintana Luna | Student Services/Community Liaison

Ricky Quintana Luna has been selected as a FRED Award winner for his continual compassion and dedication to the students and families of Westminster Public Schools. Ricky is known not only for being responsive and kind in his outreach but also for being a trusted communicator who ensures that every family and colleague feels heard and supported.

“Ricky is continually helpful and compassionate to the students in our district,” said nominator Suzanna Brill. “He is responsive and kind in his outreach to families and colleagues. I know that we can always count on him to communicate with everyone he works with in the district community. He is a great communicator and always pays attention to the details.”

In addition, Luna is a graduate of Westminster High School.

Brill said that whenever they approach a community project, one of the first reactions is, “let’s check with Ricky if we need an answer and he will come to us and he will always rise to the occasion.”

Kyle Phillips | Technology Services

Kyle Phillips has been recognized for his commitment to excellence and his willingness to go above and beyond in his role. His dedication has made a lasting impact on colleagues and students alike, and his recognition through the FRED Award is a testament to the way he uplifts those around him.

Nominator Justin Adcock told the Board of Education that when he had ongoing computer issues, Phillips responded immediately and continued to troubleshoot the problem until it was fixed.

When Adcock told someone else how pleased he was with the way Phillips handled the problem, his colleagues told him that’s the way Kyle always does his job.

“His ability to combine technical expertise with a warm, approachable demeanor makes him an outstanding asset to Westminster Public Schools,” Adcock said.

The FRED Award celebrates employees who go the extra mile to create a positive and supportive environment in Westminster Public Schools. It’s based on the award-winning book, “The Fred Factor” which tells the story of a Denver postman who continually went the extra mile in his work. He would turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Westminster Public Schools congratulates Kyle and Ricky on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their ongoing commitment to making a difference in the lives of students, families, and staff.
