Guided by the thorough research of the FTFI Committee, recommendations have been made to the WPS Board of Education about how to best use district resources and school buildings during a time of decreasing student enrollment. These recommendations were presented in a public community meeting on January 13, 2026, at Westminster High School and have not yet been voted on by the Board.

If approved by the Board of Education, the Westminster Academy for International Studies will transition to Harris Park, continuing its internationally focused programming within Harris Park, which will expand from a PK-5 to a PK-6. We are proud of the international focus and global learning experiences that make WAIS such a special community and are excited about bringing these opportunities to Harris Park families.

While the committee recommended this change to take place in preparation for the 2027-2028 school year, we believe it is in the best interest of students and staff at both schools to implement this transition beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

The recommendation will be presented to the Board of Education at the February 10th meeting, with formal action to be taken at a later board meeting.
