BACK TO SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND BACKPACK GIVEAWAY SENDS STUDENTS TO SCHOOL IN STYLE
More than a thousand WPS students arrived at school on their first day with new backpacks and supplies thanks to a lot of hard work from volunteers, the WPS Foundation and A Precious Child. They also got some help on how to make this year just a little less stressful.
Principals from across the district joined in on the event at Westminster High School and there were lots hugs and smiles to help set the tone for a new school year.
WPS also kicked off its “Less Stress with WPS" campaign to help destigmatize mental health concerns for students, parents and staff alike.
All students received a colorful stress ball and a card with some tips for students and parents, on how to reduce stress. The district has also set up a new web site for staff and students at wps.org/lessstress. Future issues of What’s up WPS will regularly share tips and ideas to support the campaign.
Denver 7 had some fun with the stress balls and you can see their onset antics below.
